The Jets have acquired third-year running back Marcus Murphy on waivers from New Orleans and have waived running back Brandon Wilds.

Murphy (5'9", 195) was the Saints' seventh-round pick (230th overall) in the 2015 draft out of Missouri. He played in 16 games (no starts) for the Saints the past two years, primarily as a kick returner. He had 34 punt returns for a 9.4-yard average and one touchdown, a 74-yard return in Game 3 of '15 at Carolina, and 19 kickoff returns for a 21.3 average. Murphy also had one rush for no yards and one reception for 3 yards in those two seasons.

Wilds came to the Jets' practice squad last September as an undrafted rookie who began the season with Atlanta. Wilds spent nine weeks on the P-squad before playing in the final four games, logging 37 plays on offense and 29 on special teams. He had 10 carries for 27 yards and two catches for 20 yards.
