Jets Acquire S Minkah Fitzpatrick in Trade with Dolphins

Nine-Year Veteran Will Reunite with DC Brian Duker

Trade-16x9-Fitzpatrick

The Jets have acquired S Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round draft pick. The Green & White have signed the nine-year veteran and former AFC East rival to a three-year deal, pending a physical.

Fitzpatrick (6-1, 207), a three-time All Pro and five-time Pro Bowler, was selected No. 11 overall by the Dolphins in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in September 2019 and remained with the team until 2024, when he returned to Miami via trade. The Old Bridge, NJ, native appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins during the 2025 season.

Fitzpatrick will reunite with Brian Duker, the Jets' new defensive coordinator and former Dolphins' pass game coordinator/secondary coach. Fitzpatrick, an Alabama product, will join a DB room that includes second-year safety Malachi Moore, who also played for the Crimson Tide. Moore was the first freshman DB since Fitzpatrick to start in an Alabama season opener.

During his eight NFL seasons, Fitzpatrick has appeared in 120 games (115 starts) and logged 690 total tackles, 60 pass defenses and 21 INTs -- 4 of which he returned for TDs. He also appeared in and started four postseason games with the Steelers.
