Gilbert to 53-Man Roster, Billingsley to PS

The New York Jets have signed defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert from the practice squad and have signed cornerback Will Billingsley to the practice squad. The announcements were made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Gilbert (6'5", 285) was signed to the Jets' practice squad on Sept. 7 after being waived by Chicago on Sept. 4. He played in four games for the Bears in 2009, contributing on defense and special teams. Gilbert was selected by the Bears in the third round (68th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft after he started 38 of his 48 career games at San Jose State. An All-America first-teamer in 2008, Gilbert is the school's all-time leader with 22.5 sacks.

Billingsley (5'10", 195) spent the previous two seasons on Miami's practice squad before being released on Dec. 10, 2009. He initially signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on April 14, 2008.  Billingsley played three seasons at North Carolina A&T, where he played 26 games and totaled 109 tackles, two interceptions and 10 pass defenses.
