Jets Name Mike Bub Coach of the Week

The New York Jets announced today that Mike Bub of Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, NY has been named this week's recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award. For his efforts, he will receive $1,000 to benefit the school's football program, and he will be presented with a plaque from the New York Jets.

In its eleventh year, the award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.

Coach Bub has 16 years of high school coaching experience with stints at Cardinal Spellman High School and Fordham Preparatory High School. Bub presided over the offense at Spellman and led them to be ranked in the top three in total offense in the Catholic High School Football League (CHSFL) during the 1998 and 1999 seasons. He is leading Sacred Heart in their first year of varsity football with an independent schedule. The Irish will play in the Hudson Valley League or the CHSFL starting next season. Michael and his wife, Lori, reside in Yorktown, NY with their two sons.

Last weekend, the Irish defeated the Leake-Watts Lions 32-8 for their first ever win in school history. Sacred Heart will face the New York Military Academy Knights in Cornwall home on Saturday at 2:30 PM.
