Jets and Gatorade Name Jason Mollison of Franklin K. Lane Campus Coach of the Year

The New York Jets announced today that Jason Mollison of Franklin K. Lane Campus in Brooklyn, NY, has been named this year's recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Year award fueled by Gatorade. Through Gatorade's partnership, the monetary award to benefit the school's football program has doubled to $4,000. Coach Mollison will receive a Gatorade kit, containing a cooler, fuel bars, Gatorade powder mix, squeeze bottles and much more. Along with this award, Franklin K. Lane Campus receives an automatic bid to compete in the 2018 New York Jets 7on7 Tournament. Additionally, Mollison, along with all of this year's Coach of the Week winners, is invited to watch the New York Jets face the Los Angeles Chargers on December 24th from a luxury suite at MetLife Stadium.

In its 22nd year, the Coach of the Year award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.  Each Coach of the Week was presented with a certificate and an award ball.

Coach Mollison is a 1990 graduate of Paul Robeson High School where he competed in track and field.  After graduating, Mollison attended the University of Wisconsin, and later transferred to St. John's University where he graduated in 1995. Mollison is in his first season as the head coach of Franklin K. Lane Campus and his fifth year of coaching football. In addition to his head coaching duties, Mollison serves as a coach of the track team, special education teacher and head dean of the Academy of Innovative Technology.

The Franklin K. Lane Campus Knights defeated the Far Rockaway Educational Campus Seahorses, 28-8, to claim their second Public Schools Athletic League Cup Championship. The Knights finished the season undefeated at 12-0 and ranked as one of the top teams in New York City.
