The New York Jets announced today that Pat Cicarella of Bullard-Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport, Conn., has been named this week's recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award. For his efforts, he will receive $1,000 to benefit the school's football program and he will be presented with a certificate from the Jets.
In its 12th year, this award is given to a coach in the tristate area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, school and student-athletes.
Cicarella is in his third season as head coach of the Tigers. Last season he led them to the Connecticut Freedom Conference (now Constitution State Conference) title. Cicarella, Notre Dame High School Class of '74, works in the Yale University athletic department's club sports program as assistant director for outdoor education.
Last Saturday, the Tigers defeated the Cheney Tech Beavers, 26-16, to improve their record to 6-1 for their best start in 10 seasons. This Friday, Bullard-Havens will travel to Milford, Conn., to face the Platt Tech Panthers at 7 p.m.
