Jets QB Justin Fields has cleared concussion protocol and will start against the Dolphins on Monday night.

"It felt good being out there with the guys," Fields said after Saturday's practice. "I don't like sitting out too much."

Fields, who sustained a concussion on a hit by Joey Bosa in the Week 2 game against Buffalo, will make his third start with the Green & White.

In two games this season, Fields is 19-of-33 passing for 245 yards with 1 TD and 0 INT. He has also carried the ball 17 times for 97 yards (5.7 per carry), a pair of TDs, 7 first downs while averaging 48.5 yards a game rushing.

"He's a dynamic runner, he's smart player," said HC Aaron Glenn of Fields. "I think in the passing game, he showed what he can do that first game, and we want to continue to expand on that and continue to get better."

Fields returned to practice Thursday and has been a full participant in the lead-up to the game.

"Every rep we can get together as a group, as a team, is super valuable," said WR Garrett Wilson of Fields. "And obviously, he's the keystone to that being the quarterback and the type of guy that he is. Just every rep that we can get with him out there is huge. Obviously, we still have a lot of work to do and if we're not out there together -- we can't really chop away at that work we have to do. With him getting back out there this week, we're cleaning up some things and are going to try to put it on display on [Monday]."

Fields will lead the offense against a Miami defense that has allowed 30-plus points in each of its first three games. In his lone previous start against the Dolphins on Nov. 6, 2022, Fields set an NFL regular-season record for a QB with 173 rush yards. Fields, then a Chicago Bear, also threw for 3 TDs and finished with 106.7 passer rating in a 35-32 loss.

"We both have yet to get a win this season, so it's a big game for both of us," Fields said. "Monday night, not much of a bigger stage either. I know we're going in there to win by any means and they're probably doing the same thing. We're excited, we're prepared and ready to go."

Jets HC Aaron Glenn said both edge Jermaine Johnson (ankle) and CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr. (ankle) won't play vs the Dolphins. RB Kene Nwangwu (hamstring), a limited participant in practice Thursday and Friday, is questionable. S Tony Adams, WR Josh Reynolds and DT Jay Tufele all will be available to return to game action. … The Jets defensive numbers have improved each week particularly in the red zone and on third down. In their last two games, the Jets limited the Bills and Buccaneers to a combined 33% inside the 20 (3 of 9) and on third down (9 of 27). The Jets are tied for 11th in the red zone (50%) and tied for 9th on third down (35.1%). "There's improvement that's going exactly how we need to go," Glenn said. "We have to continue to trend in that direction and every week that's what I look for – how are trending." With both Quincy Williams (shoulder) and link-placeholder-7 on injured reserve, rookie LB Kiko Mauigoa, a Miami product, is expected to make his first NFL start. Cam Jones also figures to see his role on defense increase and the Jets added veteran Mark Robinson off the Patriots' practice squad this week. The Fins offensively continue to use a ton of pre-snap motion and have a lot of speed. … "There is a lot of eye candy going on with this team," Glenn said. "They have to be very disciplined when it comes to their eyes and how they utilize their eyes. And for the most part, Kiko is a really smart player and I think he's going to do a really good job. And the reason why we brought these other guys on because we saw something in them that can help us – special teams and when it comes to defense. So, make sure your eyes are in the right place and for the most part man, just go out there and play. Don't try to hold anything back."
