WR Josh Reynolds: 'I'm Here to Help the Team Win'

Attracted by HC Aaron Glenn's Approach, Nine-Year Veteran Chose

As WR Josh Reynolds prepares for his ninth year in the NFL, he's concerned less about where he falls on the depth chart and more about the culture of his new team.

"I'm here for whatever they need me for," Reynolds said on Tuesday after an OTA practice. "If it's [wide receiver] two, if it's [WR] three, I'm here to help the team win. Time will tell. We still got to go through camp and all that. Guys will emerge and some guys will fall, that's just the nature of the business. I'm here to help the team win."

Reynolds (6-3, 192) signed with the Jets in free agency this past March after spending the 2024 season with the Denver Broncos and the Jacksonville Jaguars. After overlapping with HC Aaron Glenn and OC Tanner Engstrand in Detroit during his time with the Lions, Reynolds reunited with the Green & White's head coach.

"I think the biggest thing was Coach Glenn," Reynolds said. "I knew what kind of coach, what kind of person he was, I knew what kind of culture he was going to bring here and I knew I'd fit well with the Jets. So, I was like, 'Yeah, I think that would be a good situation.' I was excited to be a part of it."

After sustaining non-life-threatening injuries to his left arm and back of his head in a shooting in Glendale, outside Denver, last October, Reynolds was only able to play in 9 games last season. He had 13 receptions for 194 yards and 1 touchdown in his time with Denver and Jacksonville.

"Life is precious for sure," Reynolds said. "The more you have to think about it, the more you have to kind of relive it. So, I've moved past it. I'm here in Jersey and ready to get going."

Having spent three seasons in Detroit's system, Reynolds said, has made it easier and more comfortable working in Engstrand's offense with the Jets.

"Honestly, I thought it was going to be a little harder," Reynolds said. "But no, once I heard and saw these plays I was like, 'Oh yeah.' The memories just started flooding back in. So, a lot of it just being able to do it as soon as you hear it.

"It's pretty similar, but Tanner's got his twists and stuff. I'm excited to kind of see how he pulls that all together."

Reynolds and the Jets have put last season behind them and have rallied behind their new head coach.

"Guys are here ready to learn, ready to get after it and you see with the practices," he said. "I don't know what they looked like last year, but they're intense, and that's what AG looks for. We're going to practice with a purpose and the purpose is to win games, purpose is to get better, purpose is to have detail, technique and finish. So, I think we have a great mindset coming in this year."
