The New York Jets announced today that Rob Davis of Barnegat High School in Barnegat, NJ has been named this week's recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award. For his efforts, he will receive $1,000 to benefit the school's football program, and he will be presented with a certificate from the New York Jets.
In its eleventh year, the award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.
Coach Davis is in his 1st year of coaching the Barnegat Bengals and holds an overall career record of 4-4. Davis is a Southern Regional graduate, Class of '89, and former coach for the Rams who has guided Barnegat's program since the school welcomed its first class in 2004. He also helped create the middle-school football program to give the Bengals a feeder system right from the start.
Barnegat is in their inaugural season of playing varsity football in the South Jersey, Group I Conference. They will play their first ever playoff game against the Paulsboro Red Raiders on Saturday, November 11th in Paulsboro at 1:00 p.m.
