Jets HC Aaron Glenn did not mask his disappointment after the Jets closed out the home part of their season by losing to AFC East rival New England, 42-10, at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

"I always talk about how we come out when we play with effort," Glenn said. "Today was probably the one time I feel like our effort wasn't as good as I would want it to be. I didn't think the effort was where it needs to be."

He added: "We have one more showing against a good team [Buffalo], against a playoff team, and we have to get ourselves going, practice this week and get ourselves going. That's just about it. That's what we have to do. Because today was definitely not good enough."

Playing against a Patriots (13-3) team that has been hitting on all cylinders, winning 12 of its last 13 games, the Jets came out flat. They allowed New England to score on six consecutive possessions. New England built a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and 35-3 advantage at halftime as QB Drake Maye (19 of 21 for 256 yards) tossed 5 TD passes in the game.

"I'm upset with the effort, but I'm also upset with us as coaches, too," Glenn said. "And again, it's going to start with me getting these guys ready to play against a hell of a team for our last home game this season. And that bothers me. It does. In front of our fans, to let them see how we end this season. And we ended like that. It bothers me."

In the first half, the Patriots rolled to 23 first downs, converted 3-of-5 (60%) third downs, gained 344 total net yards (229 passing) and scored all 4 times in the red zone. The Jets' defense got to Maye for a single sack in the game as he connected with seven receivers, led by Stefon Diggs who had 6 catches for 101 yards and a TD.

Asked to respond to Glenn's words about the effort on the field, Jermaine Johnson said: "We talked about commitment before the game, regardless of the record and everything else. All of us signed to play here and we all made a commitment to this team regardless. So that's all that was going through my mind. I'm committed to this."

Heading into the final game of the season, still searching for their first division win and working as an organization -- from the top in owner Woody Johnson on down -- to erase a playoff drought, Glenn knows there is a lot of work ahead -- and a commitment to make it happen.

"I think Woody knows just as well as anyone, I'm not going to BS him about anything at all," Glenn said. "I think that's the one good thing about our relationship is we all are going to be straightforward with each other. And the number one thing is we got to get better. I think that's obvious. We have to get better, and then we have to just talk about what are those things that we have to do to make sure we get better?

"And that's something I definitely keep between us, and with Moug [GM Darren Mougey]. And I think we put our heads together and we start to figure out what steps we got to take so we can accomplish that. I do know there's a belief in me. I do know I believe in him [Mr. Johnson], and that's why I'm glad I took this job, because of ownership and what he's about, what Moug is about, what this organization is about. And listen, the one thing that I think about on a daily basis is how do we get up, get over this hump so we can be a team that's going to win continuously. And that's all I think about."
