After a 513-yard effort against the Bills in Week 3, "Jets Talk LIVE" will go on the offensive Thursday with both TE Kellen Winslow and RT Austin Howard scheduled to make live in-studio appearances. JTL will air immediately following Rex Ryan's 2:00 p.m. news conference.
The 6'4", 240-pound Winslow, who has hauled in 10 receptions this season for 95 yards, needs two catches to reach 450 for his career and 57 yards to reach the 5,000-yard mark. While he had a quiet day on the stat sheet against the Bills, Winslow still was able to have an impact on the game.
"I think on the touchdown to Stephen Hill, I believe, you'll see him, the outside linebacker hits him, the inside linebacker hits him and the safety sits on him, and that allows Stephen to go one-on-one," said head coach Rex Ryan of Winslow. "So I think those are some things that are unselfish. Run the route as hard as you can. He drew the attention of guys. That was the plan of the route, and then we were able to make the big play down the field."
Despite his first 300-yard game as a pro, rookie QB Geno Smith talked of getting the ball more to his tight ends. The Jets will face a Titans defense that had trouble at times with Antonio Gates in Week 3 as the Chargers TE totaled five receptions for 55 yards and a TD.
"We've got a stable of backs who do a tremendous job and I think we have a number of wideouts, who can go out there and have a big game for us," Smith said. "I just have got to do a better job of getting Jeff (Cumberland) and Kellen and all the other guys involved."
Howard, 6'7", 333 pounds, and the Jets O-line kept Smith upright in Week 3 and they also pounded the Bills on the ground with 182 yards rushing. The Titans have an aggressive, blitzing defense, but they are yielding 4.4 yards per rush.
Along with Winslow and Howard, Liz Gonzales will join me and feature a player profile on WR Ryan Spadola. We will also take your calls: 855-909-5483 (LIVE) as we look ahead to Week 4.
