Jets vs. Rams Game Chat

Jets vs Rams Preseason 2009

Good evening come join us tonight in our first live chat.  We're high atop the Meadowlands and just minutes from kickoff.  As Randy noted in our gameday publication, this is the final preseason opener the Jets will play at this structure.  The '09 campaign marks the 26th year at the familiar site for New York's AFC representative and then, in 2010, the Green & White will move into the New Jets Stadium a few yards north of here.

But today is about beginnings for both the Jets and the Rams.  Both Rex Ryan and Steve Spagnuolo, successful coordinators in Baltimore and in New York, are making their head coaching debuts.  Kellen Clemens will get the start at quarterback for the home team while Mark Sanchez, the heralded rookie from Southern Cal, figures to make an early appearance as well.

But Ryan said this week that third-string passer Erik Ainge will get the bulk of the snaps.  The Jets were forced to make offensive adjustments because they will miss three starters up front in C Nick Mangold (knee), RT Damien Woody (head) and LG Alan Faneca (finger).  So the first string line tonight will feature Rob Turner at center, Wayne Hunter at right tackle and Stanley Daniels at left guard.

The defense will also miss a pair of standouts as DT Kris Jenkins (calf) and CB Darrelle Revis (hamstring) will be replaced by Sione Pouha and Dwight Lowery.
