John Booty was selected by the New York Jets in the 10th round (257th overall) of the 1988 NFL Draft. Over his eight-year NFL career in which he played for the Jets, Eagles, Giants, and Buccaneers, he appeared in 89 games, recording 148 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and 4.0 sacks. Booty played high school football at Carthage High in Texas, where he was a defensive back. After a standout playing tenure at Cisco, a local JUCO, in which he served as a team captain, Booty was selected to the TJCC All-Conference team and named an NJCAA All American. He earned a scholarship to play college football as a defensive back at TCU. After retiring from his playing career, Booty finished his degree at TCU and opened a health club, eventually becoming the corporate director of Sport Fit Health Club in Bowie, MD. He is also an occasional guest football analyst at NewsChannel 8 Sports Talk in Washington and is involved in the Semi-Annual Congressional Flag Football Game, a fundraising flag football game for charity where NFL legends team up with members of Congress to scrimmage the Capitol Hill Police.
