The Jets (2-9) limited the Ravens (6-5) to just a field goal in the first half of Sunday's contest but Baltimore overcame early struggles to defeat New York, 23-10, at M&T Bank Stadium.
It was a low-scoring first half in Baltimore, both teams were held scoreless in the first quarter. The Jets finally broke through in the second frame, as QB Tyrod Taylor -- who made his second start for the Green & White -- conducted a 12-play, 79-yard scoring drive. Facing a third-and-10 from Baltimore's 13-yard line, Taylor connected with WR John Metchie III who dove for the pylon. It was the second consecutive game with a TD for Metchie, who appeared in his third game (second start) for the Green & White after being acquired in a trade with Philadelphia.
QB Lamar Jackson then led the Ravens down the field and into the red zone, but the Jets defense got a stop and forced Baltimore to settle for a 31-yard Tyler Loop field goal.
In the first half, the Ravens were held to just 72 net yards of offense in the first half -- the unit's lowest output in the first half of a game this season -- and their offense was 0-of-5 on third down before halftime. The Jets entered the locker room leading by 7-3.
The Ravens made a statement early in the second half, though, as Jackson led an 11-play, 74-yard drive that consumed more than over six minutes of the third quarter. RB Derrick Henry -- who was limited to just 14 rushing yards in the first half -- found the end zone on a 2-yard run to give Baltimore the 10-7 lead.
On the ensuing possession, the Jets turned the ball over on downs and gave the Ravens the ball in plus territory. Baltimore capitalized with a second rushing TD for Henry.
K Nick Folk made it a one-possession game early in the fourth quarter, converting a 42-yard attempt to keep his perfect season alive. But Baltimore responded with a FG of its own to extend the lead, 20-10.
RB Breece Hall came up with two explosive plays on the Jets' next drive. A short pass from Taylor turned into a 40-yard gain after Hall spun around a defender. Hall then picked up 14 more yards to move the Jets into the red zone. On the next play, Hall was fighting to reach the goal line, but the ball was stripped by Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey. The Jets prevented Baltimore from capitalizing on the turnover, but were unable to put any more points on the board.
The Ravens added a 27-yard FG with just under a minute remaining.
