JESSICA: Heartfelt Thanks, Audition Heads-Up

Jessica Photos 2008

Hi, Jets fans, it's Flight Crew member Jessica!

Happy belated Valentine's Day! I read an article that stated according to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated one billion Valentine cards are sent each year. This statistic means that Valentine's Day is the second largest card-sending holiday of the year. I hope everyone enjoyed the day. I tried really hard not to eat a lot of chocolate, but I couldn't resist a few chocolate-covered strawberries. They are my absolute favorite.

I cannot believe not only how fast the season went but also how fast the off-season is going by. I am just as busy during the off time as I am during the season. We have auditions coming up soon, which means before you know it we will be right back out there helping you cheer on our favorite team.

While attending college full-time and working part-time, I am also attending dance classes and working out at the gym to keep myself prepared for the auditions. The process for the auditions is pretty intense. Last year they took place over a two-week period. It is very important to be in great physical shape. As part of the audition process, there is also a personal interview that everyone will go through if you make it into the semifinal round.

Eating right is very important also. In order to be in total shape and prepared, I am continually watching what I eat and trying the best I can to eat healthy. I usually do pretty well, until someone hands me a chocolate-covered strawberry!

To help anyone interested in trying out for the Flight Crew, there will be prep classes you can sign up for to prepare you for the style of dance that the Flight Crew performs. Watch the Website, newyorkjets.com, for further details!

It is very exciting to me to see how many people wear their Jets attire even during the off-season. Working out at the gym, I see so much green and white going by, it gets me pumped up for the new season.

I really miss performing at the games and hearing the excitement of all of the fans. Stepping out onto that field on gameday is such an awesome experience; it is one that I will never forget. All of the new friends I have made this past season are so important to me and I am counting down the days until auditions!

A new season means lots of hard work, while having fun. I cannot wait to be back out there on appearances, meeting the fans and doing community service while making people happy. It means so much to me to know that we have such loyal fans. It makes me feel good to know that I am a part of such a great organization.

My first year as a Flight Crew member was amazing! So wear your Jets apparel proudly because fans who support the Jets all year are the best fans of all! Thank you for all of your encouragement throughout the season and I can't wait to see all 80,000 of you on gameday. Go J-E-T-S!!!

Sincerely, Jessica.
