Hey, Jets fans! It's Chelsea from the Flight Crew here!
So far my rookie season has been amazing and every game I watch, it is always a remarkable experience. This time last year during football season, if you told me I would be on the field for all home games instead of sitting in my dorm watching them, I would have laughed in disbelief!
That disbelief was quickly diminished when it came time for tryouts. After making the team, I was left in a place to take in what had just happened, to realize my whole life was about to change and there was no way I would have been able to make it this far if it was not for my amazing friends and family.
Going into this, I knew it was going to be a challenge to balance college life and NFL cheerleading, having a social life while practicing hours and hours every week, keeping up my grades when all I can think about are games, dances and sidelines. But I'm making it happen, and I have all the people around me to thank for that.
I'll start out with my parents. Not only did they wait 9 hours in the parking lot every day for tryouts but they continue to happily drive me to practice and events. They would do anything for me to be able to follow my dreams and they are.
It takes me back when I think about everything they do for me, from buying me new makeup and practice clothes to being just a phone call away anytime I need to talk to them, and I know that they will always stop whatever they are doing to listen to me and do anything they can to make me feel better — not to mention they haven't missed a game yet! They're my number one fans and my biggest heroes.
My parents aren't the only people who make my life easier. I would be completely lost if it weren't for my roommates and my boyfriend. They are there for me every step of the way through tryouts texting me non-stop to find out what happened, and yet they haven't lost their enthusiasm even in the slightest, plus I know my boyfriend loves it. The girls are here to drive me to the train station, watch me practice all our dances, our sidelines, and they love when I bring home healthy eating tips and suggestions! My roomies are always here for me when I need them and I don't know where I would be without them!
Last but not least, my Flight Crew teammates. Never in my life have I met a group of girls that want so badly for me to succeed just as much as them. We really have a great team this year and I would not be where I am now if the girls didn't push me to do my best and correct me when I'm wrong. It's so great knowing I have 40 girls at my side at all times. I love my FC ladies!
