Three sets of statistical trends, records, marks and highlights by the Jets following their 27-24 triumph over the Falcons at MetLife Stadium on Sunday:
Grand End Zone Debut
Tyrod Taylor agrees with Aaron Glenn, his Jets teammates and perhaps more and more Jets fans. "Adonai Mitchell is a very special talent," the QB said. "Watching his routes and routes on air, watching how he practices every day, it means a lot to him. If you put the ball around him, he's going to catch it."
Here is one more way to celebrate Taylor putting that 52-yard third-quarter TD pass in Mitchell's breadbasket at the goal line: How many Jets wideouts made 50-yards-plus catches for the first touchdowns of their pro careers?
Mitchell is in select company. He is only the fourth WR and sixth player to go 50-plus for his first pro TD and do it in green and white. The others: Titans RB Bob Renn (67 yards vs. Buffalo in 1961), WR Richard Caster (72 yards at Buffalo in 1970), WR Rob Moore (69 yards at New England in 1990), WR Jonathan Carter (62 yards at Indianapolis in 2003) and RB Leon Johnson (82-yard screen vs. Indy in 1998).
When Situations Come Together
The Jets' two-minute drill at the end of the game wasn't classic — they endured a 3-and-out in the middle of it and scuffled to get Nick Folk in game-winning field goal range. But it got the job done vs. Atlanta on at least two fronts.
Taylor's 10-yard scramble to tie the game for the fourth time was the Jets' second red zone TD of the day, providing a bookend for Breece Hall's first-half 2-yard run. And it ended quite a series drought. The Jets had gone 0-for-4 in 3 previous RZ opportunities over their 3 consecutive home losses to the Falcons. The most recent red zone success vs. the ATL had been so last-century: Keyshawn Johnson's 12-yard TD catch from Vinny Testaverde in the 28-3 Meadowlands win in 1998.
More significant: The Jets scored 10 points in the last two minutes to pull out Sunday's W. It's only the third time in franchise history that the Jets have scored double digits in the final two minutes of a game and the first time they did it at home. The other double dips: the 2 TDs in the last 1:22 to pull out the 31-30 win at Cleveland in 2022 and 15 points in the final 1:54 of "The Flashlight Game," the 21-17 comeback at Tampa Bay in 2000.

In the Nick of Time
Folk's 55-yard missed field goal snapped several record streaks the near-flawless kicker was enjoying. It was his first miss of the season after 20 successful FGs, dropping him from his status as the NFL's only "perfect" kicker. It also ended his runs of 20 consecutive FGs from the start of a season and 24 in a row as a Jet (dating to his last 4 kicks in his first G&W stint in 2016), just shy of Greg Zuerlein's 2023 franchise records in both categories.
But Folk prevailed in two other placekicking purviews. By lasering his 56-yard game-winner into the lower left corner of the uprights to defeat the Falcons, he converted his sixth 50-plus kick this season, tying Jason Myers' 2018 single-season mark, and it was the 24th 50-plus FG in his Jets tenure, extending his franchise mark.
As for last-second field goals, Folk broke his tie with Pat Leahy by nailing the sixth walkoff FG of his Jets career (at 0:00 or in OT, of course) and his first since the 2013 deciders at Atlanta and vs. New England. It was also easily the longest walkoff FG of the 25 such kicks in franchise history, topping the most recent home walkoff of 44 yards struck by Sam Ficken to douse the Dolphins, 22-21 in 2019.
