SARAH: Sharing My 2014 Bucket List

One of my favorite Christmas gifts this year was a sign for my new apartment that my mom had given me. It read: "Enjoy the journey. Never get too busy making a living that you forget to make a life."

We often get so wrapped up juggling our day-to-day responsibilities that we sometimes forget to relax and enjoy ourselves. I am definitely guilty of this, and I know some of my teammates are, too, due to our demanding schedules.

In fact, during training camp last year when our director, Denise, told us to take out our planners, we were all expecting to pencil in practices and appearances. Instead, she told us to schedule three things not related to the Flight Crew or work that we wanted to do that summer. I realized then that no matter how much you have going on, it's still important to make time for family, friends and yourself.

That's why I decided to create a bucket list for 2014, including all of the activities that I have wanted to do for some time yet have kept putting on the back burner. This year, I am determined to finally make them happen! Here's a look at my 2014 bucket list:

Take a trip to California— My brother moved there about four years ago, but I've only gotten the chance to visit him once. I would love to make a trip out there this year for some quality bonding time on the beach!

Complete a race— Last year, I completed my first Tough Mudder race, and although it was a challenge, I had such a blast! I love working toward new fitness goals to stay motivated, so in 2014 I want to participate in another Tough Mudder or possibly run a half marathon.

Explore New York City— Even though I live so close, I feel like I've never really taken advantage of all of the amazing things our city has to offer. Seeing a Broadway show, visiting the top of the Empire State Building, and enjoying some of NYC's best cuisine are all things I'd love to finally accomplish.

Host a dinner party— This may sound like a simple task, but getting all your friends together can be pretty rare with such busy schedules! I just settled into a new place, so I would love to host a dinner party there and catch up with all my friends, new and old.

Go skydiving— I'm an adventurous person, so I had to throw something in here that would really get my heart pumping, and what would do that better than skydiving? Now I just have to find someone to go with me!

I know I am going to have a great time crossing these items off my bucket list and would definitely recommend creating your own. No matter what you accomplish this year, just remember one thing: enjoy the journey.

Here's to a great 2014, Jets fans!
