Selected quotes from the Jets' and Chargers' locker rooms following the Jets' 14-7 loss to Los Angeles at MetLife Stadium this afternoon:

Jets head coach Todd Bowles on positives he may see despite eight losses in the last 10 games...
"We're in every game. We're not closing them out, we're not finishing them. For whatever reason, we're not making plays in the fourth quarter to finish these games. You keep your head down and you keep working and keep trying to find a solution. That's all you can do."

Bowles on staying QB Bryce Petty the whole game and not considering playing backup Christian Hackenberg...
"Bryce did not have a good ballgame. It's only his second start. I'm not going to sit here and condemn the guy because he didn't play well in Week 2 of starting this year after not playing all year. I'm not just going to jump a guy in that hasn't played all year and put him up there, either."

Petty on not being able to get into a rhythm in this game...
"It's really frustrating. Mentally I know exactly where I want to go with the ball and it's just my feet are faster, they're not as relaxed as my mind is, if that makes sense. I know exactly where I want to go with the ball, I'm seeing things and my feet are just a little bit rushed, so it's causing me to be a step too much or a step too late, whatever the case. So it's frustrating. This team deserves better, this offense deserves better, and I know I can make those plays."

Petty on Bilal Powell's 19-carry, 145-yard rushing game...
"Unbelievable. That dude comes in and works every week. He's a gamer. He's fun to hand the ball off to because you never know what's going to happen."

Powell on his 57-yard touchdown run in the third quarter...
"It was a short-yardage play that we planned on all week. Just watching film, we knew where they were going to be aligned. They gave us the look, the offensive line did a tremendous job executing, and you had 'Big Jon'."

C Jonotthan "Big Jon" Harrison on leading Powell down the left sideline to the pylon for the TD...
"Of course, that's exciting. The line did a great job of sealing the line of scrimmage. I didn't have anyone to block so I looked upfield — that's what they coach — and just took off running. I kind of topped out speed-wise and Bilal gave me an extra boost [push in the back before scoring]."

LB Demario Davis on being good enough to hold a potential playoff team like the Chargers to 14 points...
"We did some good things, which can be commended, but just not good enough. We have to find a way to win these games and go back to work to try to get better. We have to find a way to execute more."

Jets S Jamal Adams on still having no interceptions after not being able to come up with a potential pick in the second-quarter...
"I'm a rookie. I make plays and I make mistakes and I get it. I'm always going to make mistakes playing this game of football. If it comes, it comes, and if it doesn't, it doesn't. I can get criticized for my ball skills and that's fine. I think my ball skills are great, to be honest with you. I dropped the one, but it is what it is. Again, it's not about me or interceptions. It's about this team finishing ballgames and getting wins, laying that foundation and building for next year. That's what it is about and it will never be about me or interceptions. You can write about it, but that's my least concern."

Chargers HC Anthony Lynn on why Powell ran so well on his defense...
"Bilal made a couple of good cuts. But we should've been there, we should've been in better position. It just can't happen. You can't give up that many rushing yards in a playoff-type game."

Allen on his Hail Mary interception and on the tackle by Brandon Shell on his return...
"When the ball went up in the air, I definitely was like, it's mine, no question. ... I was definitely trying to score. I got killed. That [tackle] hurt."
