LINDA: Making an Impact on Your Kitchen

Hey, Jet Fans! It's Flight Crew Cheerleader Linda.

Spring has finally arrived and it is the perfect time to spice up your kitchen a little bit! As a kitchen and bath designer, I'm always being asked for quick tips on how to update the most important room in the house. Here are some easy ways to get the job done.

Paint the Walls —This is a simple, very inexpensive way to make a huge difference in the look of your kitchen. Don't be afraid to use bright rich colors. Most kitchens have very little wall space anyway. When you have an idea for a color, get a few paint samples and paint them directly on the wall. This will allow you to see exactly what the color will look like. While you are at it, freshen up your window and door trims!

Change the Backsplash — There is an ample variety of colors, materials and textures to choose from such as ceramic tiles, metals, mosaics, glass tiles, porcelain, stainless steel and granite. You can mix and match colors and materials to add accents.

Add Potted Plants or Fresh Flowers — Plants and flowers can bring life to a kitchen as well as some great pops of color. You can even grow fresh herbs that can be used to add flavor to meals.

Change the Hardware — Knobs and pulls are available in a huge variety of styles and colors. You can really play up your kitchen's specific style with new hardware.

Change Your Kitchen Lines — Spruce up your kitchen by changing everything from your table runner to your dish towels. Use the current season to determine what color scheme to use. Spring is the perfect time to go with bright, airy colors.

Finally, don't forget to do your spring cleaning. Organize your cabinets and drawers and get rid of all the clutter that has piled up on your countertops.

I hope these tips help!
