Throughout the season, NewYorkJets.com will provide a Stock Report focusing on the Jets' upcoming matchup.
This week's report features players and/or themes that are trending before the Green & White take on the Seahawks at MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
š Breece Hall
Jets RB Breece Hall, who did not practice Wednesday because of a knee injury, has been finding his footing in the run game over the last four games. He's rushed for 284 yards on 57 carries for an average of 5 yards per carry in that span compared to his 348 yards on 95 carries (3.7 avg) in the first seven games this season. Hall, who ranks No. 10 in the NFL in scrimmage yards per game this season, ran for 78 yards and 1 touchdown on 16 carries against the Colts in Week 11. He also led the team with 7 receptions (43 yards, 1 TD).
"From an offensive perspective, really thought the run game was something we could build upon," interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said Monday following the team's self-scout. "As of the last six games we've created more explosives, our average run has gone up, our amount of negative plays has gone down, so from that standpoint, something to really build upon."
š Seahawks DT Leonard Williams
Leonard Williams, drafted No. 6 overall by the Jets in 2015, is coming off his best game of the season in Seattle's 16-6 win over Arizona last week. Williams had 2.5 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, 4 QB hits and 1 pass defense. He had 9 pressures on 32 pass rushes for a 28.1% pressure rate, his highest since at least 2018, according to Next Gen Stats. The USC product had an average pass rush get-off of 0.82 seconds, his sixth-quickest time since 2018, and generated 3 pressures in under 2.5 seconds.
"He's been a game wrecker for a long time in this league and when he turns it on, he is as impressive as they get," Jets play-caller Todd Downing said Monday. "So we're going to have to have a plan for him. He's playing at a high level with a lot of energy and certainly [Sunday] jumped off the tape."
š Jets Pressure
Even though the Green & White defense hasn't played at the level its accustomed to over the last two seasons, it's been efficient in taking down opposing quarterbacks, especially over the team's last four games. The Jets have 13 sacks in that span, which is tied for the third most in the NFL. Its 37 sacks this season ranks No. 3 in the league.
Sunday the Jets will line up against Seahawks QB Geno Smith, who started 30 games for the Jets over four seasons after he was drafted in the second round in 2013. Smith has talented playmakers in Jaxon Smith-Njigba and two-time Pro Bowl WR D.K. Metcalf, but he's been sacked 17 times over his last four games. That's the most in the NFL. Smith has been taken down 37 times this season, which is the third most in the league.
š Seattle Turnovers
Geno Smith leads the NFL's No. 2 passing offense (257.2 yds/g) and his 3,259 passing yards rank No. 2 in the league this season, but he's prone to turn the ball over. He's thrown an interception in each of his last four games, including a 3-pick performance against the Rams in Week 9. His 6 picks in that span are the most in the NFL as are his 12 interceptions this season. Smith has three multi-interception games and has had three games without being picked off (Week 2, 5, 7).
The Jets, however, haven't picked off an opposing signal-caller since Week 5 and their 2 interceptions are tied for the second fewest in the NFL.
