Dolphins Conference Call

Transcript of Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown's conference call with Jets reporters on Wednesday afternoon:

On the Dolphins' excitement level going into their home opener against the Jets...

It's exciting. Obviously it's an opportunity for us to go 3-0 as well as it being our first home game and it's a division game. So there's a lot of things that weigh into this game.

On looking across the line of scrimmage and seeing Jason Taylor in a Jets uniform...

It's going to be a little ... obviously he was a teammate for a few years and he was one of the few that helped me make the transition from college to the pro level, so it's going to be a little different with him being on the other side. But at the same time we've still got work to do and we've got a job to do and we've got to approach it that way.

On if he thinks Taylor will get a warm reception from the Dolphins fans...

I don't know. It might be mixed emotions on that.

On what makes the Jets front seven so difficult to run against...

Well, I think it's just they're an athletic group of guys and they move around and try to confuse offenses and they do a good job of trying to distract you at the end or at the last second before the play starting. They try to give you a lot of different looks. And I think one of the things is they try to get you in third-and-long situations where they can use some of those creative blitzes that they have.

On what he thinks about the Jets and what's going on with them off the field...

Nothing. We just have to focus on the Miami Dolphins and we can't really worry about what's going on in New York. And the thing that we have to worry about is how we're going to handle our business as far as how to improve this weekend, make the corrections necessary for the game.

On if the Jets might be distracted...

Potentially it could be. Obviously you got a lot of things going on and around your organization and unfortunately you're going to have to actually hear about it and be a part of it. It affects you in some kind of way, but I'm not sure how that affects their game. I mean, I'm not going to bank on that.

On how having a receiver like Brandon Marshall impacts their team...

Well, just having a guy with his potential and his ability, it creates opportunity for other players on the offensive side of the ball. And for him to be able to be out there, it gives us an opportunity in the running game to take that safety out of the box or vice versa, we can run the ball effectively and get into 1-on-1 situations. We think that he can be real productive in that area and I think everybody's seen the ability that he has after he catches the ball. We try to work hand in hand and having a guy like that doesn't hurt at all.

On if he viewed "Hard Knocks" and heard all the talk the Jets did in the offseason...

Honestly, I didn't even watch it, so I'm not too familiar with what was going on on there.

On the Jets talking about wanting to go to the Super Bowl...

Realistically, I think each team should take the same approach and feel like they're going to make it to the Super Bowl. I think that's what we're playing for as athletes, to be the best of the best, and obviously you're only going to be known as the best of the best is if you win the Super Bowl.

On if Coach Sparano has put together things said or done by the Jets in a pamphlet and given it to the team...

No, as a team we know what to expect from those guys. And our main focus is to not get caught up in a tongue-wrestling match. Our main focus is to be 3-0 at the end of the week. And however we do that as far as focusing on the Miami Dolphins, that's our goal.
