Robbie Paton enters his second season with the New York Jets as the team's director of player personnel. Paton has nearly a decade of NFL personnel experience, joining the Jets last offseason (2025) following eight years with the Denver Broncos, where he most recently served as a national scout in charge of the Southeast region while also evaluating top prospects around the country.

In his role, Paton works closely with General Manager Darren Mougey to strengthen the roster, aligned in a shared vision of drafting and developing homegrown talent. That approach showed encouraging early returns in 2025, highlighted by strong rookie campaigns from first- and second-round selections Armand Membou and Mason Taylor. Membou was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team after starting all 17 games and allowing one or fewer pressures in nine starts, the most among rookie tackles in 2025 and tied for the second-most by a rookie tackle over the last five years. Despite missing the final four games due to injury, Taylor finished with 44 receptions, the second-most by a Jets rookie tight end since the merger, while his 369 receiving yards ranked fourth.

Already, the Jets have drafted four first and two second round prospects during Paton's tenure in Membou, Taylor, David Bailey, Kenyon Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., and D'Angelo Ponds, while still maintaining three first and one second round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. At the same time, Paton has played a key role in adding veteran talent, highlighted by trades for defensive linemen Jowon Briggs and Harrison Phillips, cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr., wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, and, later in the offseason, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, quarterback Geno Smith, and defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat.

This offseason (2026), Paton oversaw a scouting department that delivered three first round picks for just the third time in franchise history, with the selections of Bailey, Sadiq, and Cooper Jr.

In Denver, Paton was part of a front office that drafted four All-Pro and five Pro Bowl players between 2017-24 in linebacker Nik Bonitto, offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz, linebacker Bradley Chubb, wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr., cornerback Patrick Surtain II, and wide receiver Courtland Sutton II. Surtain, a two-time AP All-Pro selection, became the second player in franchise history to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors (2024).

After getting his start with the Broncos as a personnel intern in 2017, Paton received five promotions in his first six seasons with the organization, rising to scouting assistant (2018), college/pro scout (2019), scouting coordinator (2021), regional scout (2022), and national scout (2023-24).

A graduate of the University of San Diego where he studied business administration, Paton began his college career as a safety at UCLA before transferring. He worked as a defensive backs coach for his high school alma mater, Loyola (Los Angeles), before returning to UCLA as a scouting analyst (2015-16).
