Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer

Biography

ANDY LEE enters his first season as the team's executive vice president & chief legal officer, after previously serving as the club's chief legal officer for one season, general counsel for five seasons (2005-09), and as a trusted advisor and outside counsel during the intervening years. He has nearly 30 years of experience in law, serving as a pivotal figure in the community and as a nationally recognized leader in sports, entertainment, media, and technology law.

In his role, Lee oversees all legal aspects of the team, including those relating to sponsorships, licensing, events, digital media, production and broadcasting agreements, employment-related matters, disputes, and compliance. His strategic vision and leadership are instrumental in navigating complex legal landscapes and ensuring the team's compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Lee originally joined the team in 2005 as the team's General Counsel. In his first term with the team, Lee structured and drafted agreements pertaining to complex commercial transactions, including sponsorships, intellectual property licensing, naming rights, and more, including the establishment of MetLife Stadium and the development of the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. Additionally, he was responsible for laying the groundwork for the Human Resources department. He conducted an organization-wide HR audit, established internal training and compliance procedures, and created and filled a position to lead the newly founded department.

Prior to re-joining the Jets, Lee held several senior legal positions at prominent sports law firms and served as General Counsel to the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee (2011-14) in preparation for Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium, the first outdoor, cold weather Super Bowl in NFL History. He founded and ran his own boutique law firm, ALL Counsel, which was consistently ranked a National Tier 1 firm by Best Law Firms™, which he merged into Foley and Lardner (2020-2024). He began his legal career as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit before practicing as an attorney at Proskauer Rose LLP (1997-2005), where he managed teams of attorneys and legal assistants.

Lee is known across the industry for his innovative approach to legal challenges and his ability to drive successful outcomes, whether involving major transactions, high-profile litigation, or crisis management. His commitment to excellence and his deep understanding of the sports industry have earned him respect and recognition among his peers, including having been named Lawyer of the Year (Sports Law) by Best Lawyers in America™ and being recognized for more than a decade as a leader in sports and entertainment law by SuperLawyers™, Best Lawyers in America™, and Chambers™. Lee also currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Sports Law IP Subcommittee of the NYC Bar Association.

A graduate of American University (B.A.), Lee earned his Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law. He is an active member of various legal associations and frequently speaks at industry conferences on topics related to sports law and corporate governance.

Andy and his wife, Kelly, have two children, Nina and Emma.
