Updated: 10:05 a.m. ET

The Jets were talking with free agent TE Brandon Pettigrew and hoping to bring him in, according to a report from Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, but the Detroit Lions announced this morning that they have agreed to terms with their tight end of the past five seasons.

Pettigrew (6'5", 257) has totaled 284 receptions, 2,828 yards (10.0 yards/catch) and 16 touchdowns in his NFL career. He was the Lions' first-round pick, 20th overall, out of Oklahoma State in the 2009 NFL Draft.
