The Jets traveled to London on Monday to prepare for a Week 6 matchup with the Denver Broncos. After falling to 0- and 5 after a loss to the Cowboys, the team is embracing the opportunity to rally together and search for answers as it prepares to face a surging Broncos (3-2) team. The Green & White will look to secure their first win on Sunday as the "host" at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
"We know exactly where we're at, we're not hiding from that fact," HC Aaron Glenn said. "… We say it's a long season, but we know how these weeks continue to compile, and we have to make sure we get out of this hole that we're in."
Focus on the Next Opponent
The Jets are searching for their first win while the Broncos are coming off a thrilling comeback victory over the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5. Denver scored 18 unanswered points in the final quarter to secure the victory. The Jets scored 16 points in the final quarter of a Week 5 contest against the Cowboys, but they were unable to overcome an early deficit.
For both head coaches, it has been important to flush last week's result and focus on the task ahead.
"Every coach in the NFL, that's what you're here for -- is to win," Glenn said Monday before departing for London. "I'm not changing that at all. Yes, we are here to win now. We're absolutely here. Have we done it yet? No, we haven't. I understand that. We're 0 and 5 and we own that, but I do know this -- that's not going to stop us from doing everything we can to win."
Broncos HC Sean Payton said: "I understand the significance of last week's win relative to the opponent. … Just as we try to digest a loss and then flip the page, the same has to be said with a win. I think we have the right makeup and leadership to understand where the focus needs to be this week."
Both teams had an opportunity to escape outside noise and focus in London this week. S Andre Cisco, who will be playing in his seventh game in London during his fifth season in the league, acknowledged the significance of time spent in close quarters with teammates.
"I've always seen growth from the teams I've been on in the past when we come over here," he said. "Something about the change of scenery -- kind of being a united front, being in the building together -- I hope to see great results this year."
'Running the Ball Has Been Something We've Been Hanging Our Hat On'
The Jets and Broncos have been productive on the ground this season. The Jets rank third in the league in yards per game (144.4), while the Broncos rank just behind them (140.6 YPG). HC Aaron Glenn has continued to emphasize this brand of football, but the Jets will have to avoid the early deficits that have forced them to shift their game plan multiple times this season.
"Offensively, running the ball has been something we've been hanging our hat on," Glenn said. "It's been really good."
RB Breece Hall has been a reliable weapon for the Green & White, and he leads the team with 351 rush yards, which ranks 7th in the league. But in the absence of RB Braelon Allen, the Jets may need another RB to step up against a Broncos defense that has allowed 88.4 rushing yards per game, the fifth fewest in the NFL.
The Jets will also focus on finishing drives. The team has not scored a touchdown in the first half of a game since Week 1. And though the Jets have scored FGs on opening possessions in two consecutive games, failing to find the end zone has contributed to early deficits.
The Jets have also seen two promising first-half drives wiped out by costly turnovers in the red zone.
"Finish, it's that simple, there's no overthinking it," QB Justin Fields said. "Every drive is different. So, I think to kind of summarize it, to make it as simple as possible, is just finishing drives and having that 4-point differential rather than just taking 3."
Getting the Ball Out Fast Will Be 'Super Important This Week'
As the Jets prepare to face a Denver defensive front that leads the league with 21 sacks, QB Justin Fields knows what's at stake.
"It's always important to get the ball out fast just to help the O-line," he said. "It's going to be super important this week. Of course, they have a great front. Two great edge rushers, guys in the inside that get the job done."
Fields is coming off a season-high 283 passing yards in Week 5. WR Garrett Wilson has been the definition of consistency all season, leading the team in receiving yards through each of the first 5 games. Rookie TE Mason Taylor has also come into his own, and he emerged as the most popular target (12) in last week's loss.
But Fields & Co. will have their work cut out for them Sunday as they face a unit led by OLB Nik Bonitto, who leads the NFL with 7 sacks, and CB Pat Surtain II, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. The Broncos have allowed the eighth-fewest passing yards per game (200.2) in 2025.
"They have two Edge guys that are pretty elite when it comes to that," Aaron Glenn said. "They have interior guys I think that do a hell of a job. And when you have the corners and the man-to-man guys you have, it makes the quarterback hold the ball for quite a bit. … Our O-line has their work cut off for them and they know that. Our receivers know they have to get open, and Justin has to be able to deliver the ball and throw it accurately because guys are going to be tight on them."
With a week of preparation and team bonding now under their belts, the Jets will look to secure their first victory of the season, in London.
"We're here to play a game," Glenn said. "… Our total focus is, how do we go out there and do we beat the Broncos? And that's what we're working on every day."
