The Jets acquired WR Jermaine Kearse and a second-round pick in 2018 from the Seahawks in exchange for DL Sheldon Richardson. The two sides also agreed to swap seventh-round selections in next April's Draft.
The 6'1", 209-pound Kearse is entering his sixth pro campaign. Last season, he caught 41 passes for 510 yards with 1 TD. He had four receptions in preseason action.
In 2015, Kearse set career highs with 49 receptions, 685 receiving yards and 5 TDs. The University of Washington product signed as an undrafted free agent with the 'Hawks in 2012 and has averaged 13.8 yards on his 153 career receptions with 11 TDs. He also has appeared in 12 postseason contests, recording 6 TDs and averaging 15.9 yards on his 31 catches.
Richardson started 56 games in his first four pro seasons, posting 18 sacks and six forced fumbles. A first-round pick in 2013, Richardson became the fourth Jet to take home NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and he was named the team's Curtis Martin MVP in 2014 and was invited to the Pro Bowl after leading the Green & White with eight sacks. Richardson started 14 contests in 2016, registering 72 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
