Last week we brought you some interesting numbers we mined on the Jets' first three selections of the recently concluded draft. You might think the "final four" picks of that draft, all from Rounds 4-7, might not be as intriguing. Not so. Here are a few facts and figures we found for each of those four:

4A— Arian Smith, WR, Georgia
Smith's "elite speed" can be measured in several different ways. One of the most impressive is this: In his high school junior year, his 10.39 seconds in the 100 meters was nationally ranked. Reportedly he didn't run in the 100 again until some two years later, when he ran a qualifying sprint for the SEC Men's Track and Field Championships, qualified, and went on to set a personal best with a 10.10 time in the 100.

All that speed made him one of the most dangerous deep threats in FBS in the past five seasons. Smith played a little bit as a Georgia freshman redshirt in '20, and didn't crack double digits in receptions until his redshirt senior season, when he exploded for 48 catches, 817 yards and 4 TDs. From 2020-24, his 19.9 yards/reception was the fifth-best average for all FBS receivers (minimum 60 catches).

4B— Malachi Moore, S, Alabama
Perhaps most remarkable about MM is that because the 2020 COVID season granted an extra year of eligibility to college athletes, Moore played a lot of games (65) with a lot of starts for 'Bama, 46, including 25 games and starts his last two Tide seasons.

And he contributed metrics on those gamedays. He totaled 214 tackles, 7 interceptions and 24 pass defenses in his five seasons at Alabama. And he scored two touchdowns — one on a 28-yard return of his own forced fumble as a true freshman, then on a 3-yard blocked punt return (he didn't block but he did scoop and score) two years later.

5A— Francisco Mauigoa, LB, Miami
One impressive number for the 'backer who goes by "Kiko" is miles traveled in high school and college. He was a Tafuna HS freshman and sophomore on American Samoa, transferred to Aquinas HS in San Bernardino, CA, for one year — where he starred at QB/LB and was named Ambassador League Offensive POY — returned to American Samoa for his senior year, went to Florida's IMG Academy, then back to the West Coast for two seasons at Washington State, then back to Miami for his final two seasons. Tack on the Miami-to-Newark leg of his football higher education and he's at more than 22,000 air miles in relocation travel alone.

More important to Jets fans is his gridiron distance, which he covered just as adeptly in college. He had a team-leading and career-high 96 tackles for the Hurricanes last season. And in his two seasons at UM combined he was in on 31 tackles for loss, officially totaling 26.5 TFL when half-tackles are factored in. Since they all came in his 26 starts, he averaged 1.2 tackles for loss every game for the Hurricanes.

5B— Tyler Baron, DE, Miami
When it came to spending time in the opponents' backfield, Baron did from the Miami defense's first level what Mauigoa did from the second level. Baron's totals for '24, his only season as a Hurricane, were 11.0 tackles for loss, tied with Mauigoa for the team lead, and 5.5 sacks, also tied for the team lead.

In fact, if we mix some New York big apples with some Florida oranges and throw in some Tennessee tomatoes, we can say that over his last seven seasons of football — two at Knoxville Catholic, four at the University of Tennessee and one at Miami — Baron powered his way to 70.5 TFLs and 30.5 sacks.
