After back-to-back games with limited offensive production, the Jets exploded for 502 net yards and 39 points in Cincinnati on Sunday.
Though some early deficits have prevented the Jets from sticking to their run-first brand of football through the first seven weeks of the season, that was not the case Sunday as the team fought its way back into the game with a season-high 254 rushing yards (most since 2021 vs. JAC). RB Breece Hall had his most dominant performance of the 2025 season, leading the team with 133 rushing yards.
"We pride ourselves on running the ball," Hall said. "We ran the ball really well, really efficiently today."
Though Hall ranked 13th in the league in scrimmage yards entering the Week 8 contest (with 612), he had yet to find the end zone. That changed in dramatic fashion Sunday, as Hall scored twice in the fourth quarter alone and even threw the game-tying TD pass to TE Mason Taylor. Nick Folk the added the game-winning PAT.
"I'm unselfish, I'm not out there begging for the ball," Hall said. "… This week, I was just like -- I need the ball this week. They trusted me, the O-line played great, the receivers blocked well and we were able to win."
RB Isaiah Davis also played a huge role in the output on the ground, rushing for a career-high 65 yards, including a 50-yard run in the third quarter that set up a Folk FG. Davis added 44 receiving yards, including a key 2-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
OL John Simpson stressed it was a team effort for the Jets, though, as communication and being on the same page were key points of emphasis heading into the matchup.
"Grit, at the end of the day," he said of the fourth-quarter comeback. "The boys didn't quit. And that was my message. Do whatever you've got to do, however long it takes -- do your job. The scoreboard will take care of itself, and it did."
On the heels of an impressive rushing performance and Hall's first two scores of the season, the Jets will head into a Week 9 bye looking to build off the momentum.
"It was huge," Simpson said of Hall's 2 TDs. "We've been stagnant for two weeks, zero TDs in the last two weeks. For us to get that many TDs today was huge, and we needed it. We've just got to keep our foot on the gas and keep going."
