KEVIN MURPHY is in his sixth season with the Jets and his fourth as the assistant director, pro personnel, after joining the organization as a pro scout (2018). Before the Jets, he worked in NFL pro departments with Buffalo and Houston for 10 seasons.
In his current role with the Jets, Murphy assists in the day-to-day operations of the pro personnel department, conducting assigned player evaluations for free agency throughout the season, while monitoring league transactions and NFL practice squads for potential signings or workouts. He also takes a key role in the advance scouting of future opponents for the coaching staff.
Murphy was part of a scouting staff who drafted both the Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year in 2022, marking just the third time in NFL history a team has had both in the same year.
Prior to his time with the Jets, Murphy joined the Bills as a pro scout for two seasons (2015-16) before spending the previous eight years (2006-13) working with the Texans. During his time with the Texans, he served seven seasons as a pro scout responsible for evaluating players from teams around the NFL and CFL after beginning his tenure as a pro scouting intern.
Murphy earned four letters as a long snapper at Fresno State (1999-2002), graduating with a degree in recreation administration. Following his collegiate career, he coached tight ends and special teams at Western New Mexico (2003) and then spent two years as a graduate assistant at Mississippi State (2004-05), earning a master's degree in sports administration.
A San Diego native, Murphy is an avid traveler and enjoys playing golf.
