Biography

ERIC GELFAND, now in his seventh season with the New York Jets, is the team's senior vice president, communications and content. Gelfand, having nearly 30 years of experience as a communications brand strategist for some of the most notable sports, media and entertainment properties, is responsible for the strategic development and execution of all team communication strategies, its digital, social and broadcast platforms and relationships, and the organization's multi-faceted community relations programs.

During his tenure in the organization, Gelfand has synergistically aligned the three departments (communication, content and community relations) to maximize their effectiveness, both internally and externally, while simultaneously implementing key new initiatives and content that have helped to increase the team's profile, both on and off-the-field and led to industry recognition and multiple awards, including 67 Emmy nominations and 34 from other organizations such as Cynopsis, Communicator and the Webby's.

Gelfand has also spearheaded the award-winning content department's expansion - which included a new state-of-the-art studio - and focus of episodic franchises across its social and digital platforms through the creation of new, signature series, such as the 10-time Emmy Award-winning One Jets Drive, Flight 2021 and Flight 2022. In addition, the organization's shift to a social-first mindset has led to increases of engagement (81%) and impressions (45%) and revenue across all platforms last year. Furthermore, he installed the organization's Gameday Media Upfront, an event designed to highlight key team initiatives for the upcoming season, unique partnership announcement rollouts, and also created their trailblazing influencer program which last season earned a reach of 166 million, garnering 52 million video views.

Through the organization's community relations department, Gelfand also oversees the Jets Foundation which looks to positively influence the lives of young men and women in the tri-state area by supporting youth football and promoting social justice, particularly in disadvantaged communities, while also directing the team's Social Justice, Diversity and Inclusion team. Now in its third year, the Jets SJDIT team works with partners Year Up, The New York Urban League, the Innocence Project and the All Star's Project to commit resources and manpower to make change. He also helped to guide the creation of the Jets and Nike Girl's Flag Football League in 2021 and the expansion of the league in 2022 from 8 to 43 teams spanning New Jersey and Long Island.

Prior to joining the Jets, Gelfand was the senior vice president of communications and brand strategy for Legends, the venue-solution company co-owned by the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. While there, he was responsible for the development and execution of Legends' communications, public relations, brand strategy and creative services across all of the company's divisions. Prior to joining Legends, he served as the senior vice president, communications for SCP Worldwide, where he was responsible for the strategic media positioning and branding for its holdings, including the St. Louis Blues and Real Salt Lake, while also serving as the primary spokesperson for the company. Gelfand's career includes 12 years at Madison Square Garden in a variety of departments as vice president, public relations,

including MSG Networks, Corporate Communications and Sports Properties, where he played a key role in the development and growth of the company's media assets, as well as its college basketball and boxing franchises. Gelfand holds a BA in political science from the University of Delaware.
