Assistant Wide Receivers

Hometown: Mesa, AZ

Experience: 5 years

Biography

Junior Taylor enters his fourth season with the New York Jets and his first as the team's assistant wide receivers coach, following three years as an offensive assistant. He originally joined the organization as part of the NFL's Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship (2023). Taylor previously participated in the program during the summer of 2020 with the Tennessee Titans.

Last season (2025), Taylor worked closely with Wide Receivers Coach Shawn Jefferson, helping guide one of the youngest units in football, as every receiver on the final roster was 25 years old or younger. On pace for a career season before his injury in Week Six, wide receiver Garrett Wilson recorded 395 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 36 receptions, all top-three ranks in the AFC at the time of his injury. On top of Wilson, Taylor helped midseason trade acquisitions Adonai Mitchell and John Metchie III produce single-season highs in key receiving metrics. Mitchell recorded 24 receptions in eight games with the Jets, surpassing his rookie mark of 23 (2023), while his 301 yards were just 11 yards shy of his career best. Metchie produced single-season highs in receptions (39), receiving yards (256), and receiving touchdowns (two) in just nine games with the Jets.

In 2024, the Jets offense produced the only pair of 1,000+ yard, 75+ reception, and five+ touchdown receivers in the NFL (Wilson and Davante Adams). That season marked Wilson's third consecutive surpassing the 1,000 yard receiving mark, making him the first wide receiver in franchise history, and the 10th player in NFL history, to record at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons in the league.

Prior to joining the Jets, Taylor served as Northern Arizona's wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator, spending four seasons with the program. During his time, Taylor helped his players earn All-Big Sky Conference or All-American honors, with four players ranking among Northern Arizona's top five in all-time receiving yards, including Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Coleman Owen.

Taylor began his coaching career in 2010 with Mesa (AZ) HS, serving in various roles before being named offensive coordinator (2016). He was inducted into the  school's Hall of Fame in 2015 after a prolific career with the Jackrabbits.

An Arizona native, Taylor played wide receiver at UCLA for five seasons (2002-06), totaling 1,372 yards and nine touchdowns on 104 receptions, adding 116 yards and a touchdown on six carries. His 463 yards in 2004 were the second-most on the team, playing alongside future NFL players Maurice Jones-Drew and Marcedes Lewis. He earned his bachelor's degree in arts history and a minor in education from UCLA.
