Biography
JEFF BLASKO joins the New York Jets as the team's tight ends coach following five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys where he served as the assistant offensive line coach (2020-22) before being promoted to run game coordinator/running backs coach (2023-24).
During the 2024 campaign, Blasko guided fourth-year running back Rico Dowdle through his first season as the lead back, recording a career-high 235 carries and eclipsing 1,000 yards rushing for the first time in his career.
In 2023, Blasko helped Tony Pollard reach his second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season, finishing with 252 carries for 1,005 rushing yards, sixth most in the NFC. Additionally, his 307 touches ranked sixth among NFL running backs that season.
In 2022, Blasko assisted an offensive line group that saw first round draft pick Tyler Smith immediately move into a starting role at left tackle following an injury to Tyron Smith. The rookie started in all 17 games, with all but one start at left tackle.
In his second season in Dallas (2021), the Cowboys led the League in total offense (407.0 yards per game), ranked second in pass offense (282.4), and third in rushing offense (124.6). Paired with the play of the offensive line, quarterback Dak Prescott finished in the top 10 in all major passing categories, and running back Ezekiel Elliot recorded his fifth 1,000-yard rushing season and 10 rushing touchdowns.
Prior to arriving in Dallas, Blasko served as the assistant offensive line coach in Cleveland (2019), after working in Green Bay for three seasons, including the final two as assistant offensive line coach. While with the Packers, Blasko helped offensive lineman David Bakhtiari earn first-team All-Pro honors in 2018, and second-team honors in 2016 and 2017.
Blasko coached collegiately for eight years, starting with a three-year stint (2008-10) as a graduate assistant at the University of Akron. He then spent time at the University of Florida as an offensive quality control coach in 2011, followed by stops at the University of Kansas (2012-14) and the University of Pennsylvania (2015) as a tight ends coach with both schools.
To start his coaching career, Blasko worked at the high school level for six seasons, serving as an offensive assistant at Steel Valley in Munhall, Pa., (2002-05) and as an offensive assistant at Bethel Park, Pa. (2006-07).
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Blasko graduated from Robert Morris University with a bachelor's degree in information sciences in 2005 and earned a master's degree in sports administration from Akron in 2009.
Blasko and his wife, Katie, have two sons, Tommy and Cooper.
