Biography

Al Netter enters his first season with the New York Jets as an assistant offensive line coach following three seasons at Stanford (2023–25), where he served as the offensive line coach (2025) after co-leading the unit his first two years (2023-24).

Last season (2025), Netter was promoted to offensive line coach under then interim head coach Frank Reich. He helped guide the Cardinal to their most wins since 2020, achieving the program's first year-over-year improvement in more than 10 seasons. In 2024, the offensive line allowed the fewest sacks by a Stanford offense since 2021, paving the way for the ground game to produce the most rushing yards in program history since 2017, and the highest yards per carry average since 2020.

At Yale (2018-22), Netter served in various roles on the offensive staff, first as offensive line coach (2018-19), then as run game coordinator (2020-22), and ultimately as associate head coach/co-offensive coordinator following the 2022 season. During his tenure, he helped the Bulldogs post a 27–13 record, highlighted by two conference championships (2019 & 2022).

Netter got his start in coaching as an offensive graduate assistant under Jim Harbaugh at Michigan (2015-17), where he worked primarily with the offensive line. He helped the Wolverines win 28 games over the three-year stretch, including a bowl appearance every season.

An offensive lineman himself, Netter was a four-year starter at Northwestern (2008-11), where he was a two-time captain and three-time All-Big Ten honorable mention. He started all 52 games he appeared in at Northwestern, before signing with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent (2012). Netter spent three years in the NFL, spending time on the practice squad with San Francisco and Tennessee.

Netter earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern in 2011 and his master's in sports management from Michigan in 2017. While pursuing his bachelor's, he was a three-time academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Netter and his wife, Katie, have three children, Jordyn, Westley, and Callie.
