For Notre Dame's Malachi Fields, playing football on the sport's biggest stages has always been a priority.
It's what motivated the receiver to leave his hometown of Charlottesville, VA to pursue a final collegiate season at Notre Dame after playing four seasons at the University of Virginia. And it is what continues to motivate him as he embraces the opportunity to compete at this year's Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL.
"I was hoping to boost my draft stock just playing on a bigger stage of football," he told NFL Network on Wednesday of his decision to play for Notre Dame. "I think I accomplished that goal in showing the world what I can do."
Fields, who recorded 36 receptions for 630 yards (17.5 yards per reception) and 5 TDs during the 2025 season, wasted no time flashing his potential to compete at the highest level this week. He was identified by NFL.com's Lance Zierlein and Eric Edholm as one of the standouts from Day 1 in Mobile.
"Measuring 6-foot-4 and 218 pounds, Fields is the most physically imposing wideout at the Senior Bowl," they wrote. "While he didn't make highlight-reel catches on Tuesday, Fields did show off his ability to stack corners on vertical routes and body them out of contention on short/intermediate catches. He used his wide catch radius to pull in off-target throws, as well."
Fields, who said "whatever ball is thrown my way, I'm trying to snag it," has continued to improve his draft stock throughout the week. During Wednesday's team drills, he hauled in a deep pass from Arkansas QB Taylen Green for one of the week's most impressive plays.
After finishing his college career with 165 receptions for 2,479 yards and 16 TDs, Fields said there are areas of his game he is continuing to work on every day, including his ability to create separation. The receiver, who has impressed with his size and contested catch ability throughout the week, will aim to flash his skill set one more time during Saturday's all-star game.
"Dominate against the best in the country," Fields said of his goal ahead of Saturday. "We're all in this spot right here, coming out and competing every day. So, definitely just dominate the competition and just build confidence in myself and within the guys around me. Just elevate the whole group."
