Jets cornerback Morris Claiborne will sit out tonight's Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.
Claiborne sat out practice all week with a foot injury coming out of Sunday's rainy home game against Atlanta and head coach Todd Bowles on Wednesday listed his status for tonight's game as questionable.
Darryl Roberts will start for Claiborne in the Jets' base defense. And the CB position, despite losing a starter tonight, gets two reinforcements with the return of Buster Skrine from the NFL's concussion protocol and the availability of Rashard Robinson, the third-year player acquired earlier this week in a trade with San Francisco.
Also, DL Muhammad Wilkerson is again expected to start. Wilkerson has been battling shoulder and foot injuries but despite not practicing the past four weeks and being listed each week as questionable, he has started as usual and has had arguably his two most impactful games the past two weeks against Miami and Atlanta.
On the offensive line, Brandon Shell (shoulder) will be inactive for the second straight week and Brent Qvale will get the start for Shell at RT.
Back on the D-line, newly signed Xavier Cooper will be active and, like Robinson, will be in line to make his Green & White debut.
Here is the Jets' full inactive list for their only scheduled national game this season:
■ QB Christian Hackenberg
■ CB Morris Claiborne
■ S Terrence Brooks
■ CB Derrick Jones
■ FB Lawrence Thomas
■ LB Obum Gwacham
■ T Brandon Shell
For the Bills, WR Kelvin Benjamin, who arrived in a trade with Carolina this week, will not make his Buffalo debut tonight. The Bills' inactive list:
■ WR Kelvin BeTnjamin
■ WR Brandon Tate
■ CB E.J. Gainies
■ T Seantrel Henderson
■ T Conor McDermott
■ T John Miller
■ TE Charles Clay
