Jets GM Joe Douglas was not done with his wheeling and dealing in today's final day of the 2020 NFL Draft. After trading down in Round 2 with Jacksonville and out of Round 3 by getting three picks from New England, Douglas and the Jets swapped again.
Except this time it was a pick-for-a-player deal.
The Jets sent their last pick of the draft, No. 211 overall, which they got from Kansas City in the trade for LB Darron Lee, to Indianapolis for fourth-year CB Quincy Wilson.
Wilson (6'2", 193), out of Florida, was the Colts' second-round pick (46th overall) in the 2017 draft. He played in 7 games (5 starts) as a rookie with 22 tackles and an interception. He added 13 games (5 starts) in 2018, with another INT and a 38-yard fumble return plus 28 more tackles. Last season Wilson played in 9 games (no starts) with 11 tackles on defense.
Wilson joins several more Florida products on the Jets' current roster — S Marcus Maye, CB Brian Poole and C Jonotthan Harrison, plus two draft choices, edge rusher Jabari Zuniga and RB La'Mical Perine.
At No. 211 over the years, the Jets have selected three players. The best was G Dave Herman out of Michigan State, taken in the 27th round of the 1963 AFL Draft. Herman moved into the starting lineup, played in 128 games through 1973, was named to two AFL All-Star teams and, although he was a RG virtually his entire career, famously started at RT in Super Bowl III.
