The Jets have signed tackle Donald Hawkins to the practice squad. Hawkins fills the spot that opened when the team released T Zach Sterup from the squad Tuesday.

Hawkins (6'4", 310) was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Texas by Philadelphia after the 2014 draft. He was waived by the Eagles that August, had a quick stop with the Browns, then spent the season with the Cowboys, for whom he played one game. He split the 2015 season between the Dolphins and 49ers practice squads.

He signed with Carolina in January and spent the season with the Panthers, playing in seven games, before he was waived last week.

Sterup (6'9", 318) was released from Kansas City's practice squad Nov. 8 and was signed to the Jets' practice squad the next day.
