The Long Island kid is staying home.
Earlier this week, the Jets re-signed S Andre Cisco, a Valley Stream native who will begin his second season with the Green & White after joining the team as a free agent a year ago.
"[I'm] extremely excited," Cisco said on Monday. "No place I'd rather be, so I'm happy for it."
Cisco's homecoming last season, though special, was not without its challenges. After spending four seasons in Jacksonville and appearing in all but 5 games for the Jaguars from 2021-24, Cisco sustained a season-ending pectoral injury halfway through the 2025 season.
The injury occurred during the Jets' Week 8 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the team's first victory of the season. Up to that point, Cisco had played all but one defensive snap for the Green & White, and his 41 tackles were the second-most on the team.
"Last year, [there was] a ton of adversity to navigate," Cisco said. "This year, adversity is always going to come. We obviously want more wins. We will have more wins. I'm just glad to kind of bring some learning lessons from last year and fix it."
Cisco will be working to build off last year with the help of a revamped secondary that features newcomers S Minkah Fitzpatrick, CB Nahshon Wright and S Dane Belton. Fitzpatrick, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, was acquired by the Jets via a trade with the Dolphins. Wright -- who led the league in takeaways as a member of the Chicago Bears in 2025 -- and Belton both signed with the Jets as free agents.
"I'm excited," Cisco said of the group, which also features second-year players Malachi Moore and Azareye'h Thomas and nickel Jarvis Brownlee Jr. "I know those guys and their games well. So, I think that this group will kind of rally around that experience."
That experienced group is also likely to benefit from the mentorship of HC Aaron Glenn, who will be calling defensive plays in 2026.
"AG -- he gets it," Cisco said. "Being a guy that played for this organization but also had a lot of success in this league as a player and a defensive back. So, I think for myself, I'm just excited to continue to learn from him. He taught me a lot last year just about the position, about leadership. I think everybody can learn a tidbit and just embrace their role. AG is definitely the right leader."
Under Glenn's leadership, Cisco enters 2026 looking for consistency as he aims to carve out his role in the defensive backfield.
"Just showing up each and every day and being able to bring it to game day," Cisco said of his goals. "Just kind of embracing the scheme we'll be running. As long as I play my role, I think I'll help the team."
