Posted Feb 27, 2018

The New York Jets and M&T Bank have launched their inaugural Touchdown for Teachers program, which recognizes local teachers for outstanding contributions to their students, schools and communities with a focus on promoting physical fitness, health, wellness and nutrition. Peers, family, friends and students can now submit nominations for deserving teachers in the tri-state area.

“The Touchdown for Teachers program allows the New York Jets and M&T Bank to recognize the exceptional efforts of our best educators in the region,” said New York Jets President Neil Glat. “Our children depend on our local teachers’ work and commitment to education, and it is rewarding to celebrate their contributions.”

Five finalists will be selected based on their level of engagement in the community, their degree of positive impact and commitment to education. One nominee will be awarded the grand prize, a surprise visit from the New York Jets and a $2,000 grant for his/her school.

Each finalist will receive VIP invitations to the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center for the opportunity to watch a training camp practice, and the four runners-up will receive $500 grants for their schools.

“Our bank can only do well if the communities we serve do well, and teachers are often the most valuable players in their neighborhoods through the positive impact they have on the lives of their students. We’re partnering with the Jets to recognize and honor some of those special teachers,” said Noel Carroll, Senior Vice President for Retail Banking at M&T Bank.

M&T Bank is the Official Community Bank of the New York Jets and the exclusive provider of Jets branded debit cards.

Educators must be nominated no later than Friday, April 6 through the online application form at . All nominated teachers will receive a certificate of recognition from the Jets and M&T Bank. The finalists will be selected by a committee of Jets and M&T Bank staff, and will be notified by April 20.
