The Jets have signed fifth-round tight end Jordan Leggett.

"All I needed was just to get my foot in the door," Leggett, the 151st overall pick of last month's draft, said at the Green & White's recent rookie minicamp. "The Jets gave me the opportunity. I'm forever grateful and I'm extremely blessed."

And he also brings a mix of big-college confidence and hard-working humility to coordinator John Morton's offense.

"The way Coach Morton used the tight end at the Saints, it's definitely a position that's going to be there this year," he said. "I'm excited for my chance, excited to be here, and I'll just go out there and fight to make the team and play on Sunday."

Leggett (6'5", 258) stood tall the last two seasons for the Tigers. After last season he was named an All-ACC first-teamer and a John Mackey Award finalist. He had 46 catches for 736 yards (16.0 yards/catch) and seven TDs for Clemson's 2016 national championship team after totaling 40-525-8 as a junior.

Leggett was the ninth Clemson player drafted by the Jets all-time and joins two former Tigers, WR Charone Peake, taken in last year's seventh round, and K Chandler Catanzaro, signed as a free agent this offseason, as this year's Jets offense takes shape.

He is the fifth of the Jets' nine draft choices to sign his rookie contract.
