In MMQB's Albert Breer's pre-Combine mock draft, he has the Jets selecting Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson at No. 6.
"This is assuming the Jets get Cousins (once free agency begins)," Breer wrote. "Nelson is a generational guard prospect, widely considered better than fellow Irish alum Zack Martin at the same stage. And he'll bring nastiness."
The 6'5" 329-pound Nelson is the top lineman in the draft and is widely regarded as one of the draft's top three prospects. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah and Bleacher Report's Matt Miller both rank him as the No. 2 overall prospect while others such as NFLDraftScout.com's Dane Brugler list him No. 1.
Nelson, a New Jersey native out of Holmdel, started 25 games for the Irish and was named team captain in 2017.
In Breer's mock, the Browns selected USC quarterback Sam Darnold at No. 1 overall and running back Saquon Barkley with their second first-round pick at No. 4. With the second pick, the Giants took Wyoming signal caller Josh Allen. The Colts tabbed N.C. State edge rusher Bradley Chubb at No. 3 and the Broncos selected UCLA gunslinger Josh Rosen at No. 5.
