From Clemson to the Chargers, Meet Our New Safety Marcus Gilchrist

A Clemson product, Gilchrist ripped off 26 reps on the bench press to go along with a 38-inch vertical leap at the NFL Combine.

Gilchrist was drafted in the second round (50th overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers.

Considered a top CB prospect, Gilchrist manned the nickel spot in the Chargers' secondary in his rookie season.

Gilchrist moved to safety for the 2013 season.

For the past two seasons, Gilchrist has manned the safety spot for the Chargers.

After totaling eight starts his first two seasons, Gilchrist has started every game the past two years and has only missed two games in his four-year career.

Gilchrist has picked off five passes, thee sacks, three forced fumbles and a pair of recoveries in four seasons.

Gilchrist has history as a kick returner, returning three kicks for a 15.3-yard average as a rookie in 2011.
