The New York Jets have teamed up with the New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE) to support their C.H.A.M.P.S. middle school flag football program. The program provides over 75 middle schools with afterschool opportunities for their students to learn the skills and techniques of football from qualified coaches. Each participant receives a T-shirt uniform provided by the Jets.

In 2005, the NYC DOE and the New York Jets created the Heads Up! program to support New York City public school football. The Jets commitment to the C.H.A.M.P.S. Middle School Flag Football League falls under the Heads Up! program.

Through the NYC DOE's C.H.A.M.P.S. Middle School Sport and Fitness League, students are empowered to become Cooperative, Healthy, Active, Motivated, Positive Students—for life. Regardless of athletic ability, student participants in C.H.A.M.P.S. are provided with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of physical activities before and after school, including traditional sports, non-traditional sports and fitness activities. The C.H.A.M.P.S. program promotes health-related fitness and sports skills that can be maintained long after school days are over.
