Hey, Jets Fans! It's Flight Crew Cheerleader Brittany. I hope you are all having a great start to 2012.

In the spirit of the New Year, I wanted to share with you a few words that have helped to motivate and inspire me throughout my life so far. In high school, one of my teachers read the below quote to our class and it has always stuck with me no matter what I was attempting to do in my life.

"You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them."

This line was said by one of the greatest athletes of all time, Michael Jordan. It seems simple and quite obvious, but it could not hold truer. No one will go out and get things for you — you have to figure out what it is that you want, and then have the work ethic and confidence in yourself to go after it.

At age 26, I feel I've had 3 things that I consider to be major accomplishments so far. Graduating from Penn State University with a degree in marketing, landing an internship with NBC Sports & Olympics, which has led me to the career I have now, and lastly, making the Jets Flight Crew.

I've considered this quote while working towards all three of these things, and have had success because I've had the confidence in myself to chase after these goals and willingness to work at each of them.

Each of us has something different that motivates us, whether it is a quote, a piece of advice or a person. I just wanted to share this quote with you all and maybe it will help you as it did me.

Here's to a happy and healthy 2012!

—Brittany
