Inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2019, the inductee was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times, was an All-Pro center seven times and was selected the NFL's All Decade Team of the 2000s. Mawae was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in 1994 as a second round pick (36 overall) and spent two seasons with the Seahawks at right guard before signing with the Jets as a center. In 1997, his first season with the Jets, Mawae helped lead the team to a division title and a spot in the AFC championship game. During his eight seasons with the Jets the center was able to help fellow Hall of Famer running back Curtis Martin run for seven of his 10 1,000-yard seasons. In addition to Martin, Mawae assisted a running back to 1,000 yards in 13 of his 16 seasons and 2,000 yards for Chris Johnson with the Titans.
