Outplayed for large portions of Sunday's contest in Cleveland, the Jets totaled three monstrous takeaways in their 17-14 victory over the Browns.

After taking advantage of two DeShone Kizer miscues in the first half, veteran CB Morris Claiborne jump-started the visitors in the third quarter with an interception. Relief signal caller Kevin Hogan sailed a ball intended for WR Ricardo Louis and Claiborne climbed the ladder for his first interception with the Jets. His fifth career theft set the Green & White up at the plus-13 and directly led to points as the visitors cashed in on a short scoring pass.

"That changed the game around," said head coach Todd Bowles. "It gave us good field position in the red zone. With Mo (Claiborne) running it back and the offense punching it in, it gave everyone a huge boost."

In the opening half, Rookie S Marcus Maye and veteran OLB Freddie Bishop swung momentum to the Green & White in a contest Cleveland appeared destined to take an early lead.

Just promoted from the practice squad on Saturday, Bishop recorded his first career fumble recovery when Kizer awkwardly pushed a lateral in the direction of RB Isaiah Crowell. That ended a drive that had reached the three-yard line and there would be a similar escape not too far behind.

In the second quarter, Kizer forced the issue in the direction of WR Seth DeValve. Maye displayed his ball hawk skills, making it look easy as he read the QB from the onset of the play. Just like the Bishop FR, the Browns were attempting to convert a third-and-3 from inside the 10.

"It was a nice pick," Claiborne said of the rookie's INT. "It was pretty. I thought he was going to six it, but he got the takeaway for our team and was able to get our offense back the ball. That was a big play in this game."

The last time the Jets had two red zone takeaways in a game was in a 56-35 win over Arizona on Sep. 28, 2008. New York's AFC representative played with fire before intermission, but Bowles' club started the second half with a 3-0 advantage while also benefiting from a pair of misses from K Zane Gonzalez. Claiborne's pick gave a scuffling offense a huge boost and a lead they would never relinquish.

"It changed the game," said QB Josh McCown of Claiborne's INT. "All of those turnovers. Just guys getting their hands on the ball and capitalizing. His changed the game."

Entering Week 5 with four takeaways, the Jets nearly doubled that number Sunday as their win streak moved to three.

"We've been harping on that all season. We need to get more turnovers and our defensive backs played phenomenal," said MLB Demario Davis. "They got us two interceptions. Most of our turnovers and our fourth down stop were in the red zone, so that was even better for us."
