While Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan was quizzed Friday about his free agency and draft strategies, the architect of the Green & White provided injury updates on WR Eric Decker (shoulder/hip) and QB Bryce Petty (non-throwing shoulder).  Both players finished the year on injured reserve and are rehabbing from surgeries.

"I think Eric is making good progress," Maccagnan said. "He had the hip surgery first then the shoulder. It's the shoulder that I think he's about a few months away. I know he can run straight ahead right now, but he should be able to compete in most of the OTAs and maybe some non-contact stuff. Going into training camp, we may restrict him a little bit to make sure he's good and ready to go."

In three games last season, Decker registered nine receptions for 194 yards and two touchdowns before he was shut down on Oct. 12.

"He's been making good progress and should be ready to go," Maccagnan said. "I anticipate him being ready to start the season unless there's a setback that we're not aware of."

Petty appeared in six games his sophomore campaign, starting four contests. The Baylor product recorded his first professional start in Week 10 against the Rams and was handed the keys to the offense for the final quarter of the season. However, Petty tore the labrum in his left shoulder against the Patriots in Week 16 and was placed on IR two days later.

"Bryce will be back. I can't think of the exact date," Maccagnan said. "But in April he'll be able to start throwing again when his shoulder comes around."
