Jets head coach Todd Bowles' inactive list for today's season opener against the Bills at New Era Field include one quarterback, two recent acquisitions and two rookie draft choices.

The inactive quarterback is Bryce Petty, meaning Josh McCown will be backed up by second-year QB Christian Hackenberg, who was inactive for the first 15 games last season and was active but didn't play in the season finale against the Bills.

WR Jeremy Kerley and TE Neal Sterling, added to the offensive roster last week, are both inactive. Also, rookie TE Jordan Leggett has been deactivated with an injury.

But WR Jermaine Kearse, who arrived in the trade with Seattle nine days ago, is active and so is TE Will Tye, acquired off waivers from the Giants a week ago. Tye in particular is needed because, with Austin Seferian-Jenkins serving the first game of his two-game NFL suspension, the only other active TE today is Eric Tomlinson.

■ WR Jeremy Kerley

■ DB Derrick Jones

■ S Rontez Miles

■ G Dakota Dozier

■ TE Neal Sterling

■ TE Jordan Leggett

Bowles' gameday captains are McCown, RB Matt Forte, LB Demario Davis and DL Steve McLendon.

The Jets are wearing white jerseys and green pants for this game. They're 7-10 overall in white/green under Bowles since 2015 and 5-9 on the road in that combination.

The referee is John Hussey, who also presided over two Jets games in 2015 — Game 2 at Indianapolis and Game 12 at the Giants.
