Get to Know: Tanner Purdum
10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About the Long Snapper

Tanner Purdum signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent before the 2010 season.

Purdum attended Baker University of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

He first signed with the Chiefs before the 2009 offseason, but lost a training camp battle for the long snapper position.

Thanks some influence from a family of coaches, Purdum has always known how to be a long snapper: "I've been doing it since I can remember. My dad's a football coach and he was a snapper. My grandpa was a snapper, so it's something I've always just done."

In addition to playing football, Purdum played baseball when he was younger.

Purdum is a big fan of classic and southern rock music genres. He likes the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

During the offseason, Purdum steps into a boxing ring to train to elevate his football skills.

His go-to pregame meal consists of eggs and waffles with syrup and strawberries: "It's so I don't sit there and burp warming up."

His favorite football memory was the 28-21 win over the Patriots in the 2010 AFC Divisional round during his rookie season.

When he's not practicing or working out, he's wither hunting or working on cars. He hunts for deer in New Jersey and deer and duck in Texas during the offseason.
